Programme 2011/2012 :

time- and routeplan Wild One 2012 / 2013

jannuary 2012 – atlantic crossing Southafrica (Capetown) to Brasil (Bahia- Salvator) Blue water adventure on the barefoot route with pleasant trade winds and current from behind. 3300 miles in total with a stopover in the middle at the little Atlantic island St. Helena. If the weather allows diving around St. Helena.
first half of february 2012 – Brasil (Bahia – Salvator) The big bay of Bahia guarantees pleasant sailing. We discover the region around Bahia and do trips inland. Finally we want to see the world famous carnival on the 16th of February in Salvator.
second half of february 2012 – Eastcoast of Brasil (Salvator to Belem) We start in Salvator (departure 17.2) and sail over Recife to Belem close to the Amazonas River. We try to make as many stopovers to allow for visiting the coast line. In total 1400miles to go.
first half of march 2012 – Amazonas
We want to get a few on the interior of Basil by sailing into the Amazonas river starting from Belem. More than 800sm can be sailed into the Amazonas. We hope this to be a special adventure on our trip.
second half of march 2012 – Brasil (Belem) - French Guyana, Suriname, Guyana – Caribbean (Trinidad)
With the tradewinds pushing us from behind we sail from Belem in Brasil to Trinidad in the Caribbean. We can do the 1000 miles in about 6 days which leaves some time to visit the Iles de Salut in French Guyana with their Caribbean flair and Georgetown the main town of Guyana with its stilts houses and canals from the 19th century.
april, mai 2012 – Caribbean (Leeward islands – Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent & Grenadines) Theese two month we dedicated to sail in the cruising paradise Leeward Islands. From my first trip I learned that the Leeward Islands with their moderate tourism are well woth another visit. Grenada offers a 200m Cruiseshipwrack, wonderful waterfalls and nice anchorages. The Tobago Keys are world famous for thir turquise waters and the palm beaches. We loved especially Tobago and Trinidad with its unique vegetation, the nice people and the laid back atmosphere. Diving is especially nice at Tobago which is known for the manta rays feeding there. Sailing is mostly pleasant daysailing in the NE Trades with many opportunities to visit the islands and discover them under and above the water. Flights at reasonable fares to Trinidad or Grenada.
June 2012 – Trinidad over Venezuela to Bonaire – Diving and Surfing (Testigos, Isla Margarita, Islas Aves, Los Roques) I total it is 400miles to go with wind from behind. We want to spend some time at the nature reserve of Los Roques with its well known divesites and wind surf or kite at isla Margarita. The little islands Testigos were a special highlight on my first trip since the under water world there is exceptional due to rich nutrition’s delivered from the Amazonas.
